Launch It Kent Masters House has been awarded a generous grant from the Peter Harrison Foundation, a national funder providing opportunities to empower individuals with disabilities or significant disadvantages to reach their full potential.
This grant will enable Launch It's newest enterprise centre in the Isle of Sheppey to continue its work of supporting young founders aged 18-30 years old who are facing social and economic barriers, and/or are from underrepresented communities to realise their potential and build successful futures through entrepreneurship.
Denise Knights, Launch It Kent enterprise manager, said: "As the young entrepreneurs in our hub approach six months of the business incubation programme, going through business workshops, mentoring and 1 to 1 sessions, I am extremely excited & proud to share that they are going from strength to strength... They have set up a CIC, a CIO, an art syndicate and registered as sole traders, now on their way to growing their businesses and becoming more financially independent-- entrepreneurs made in Sheppey."
On his experience being on the Launch It Kent programme, Liam Todd, founder of English Pharaohs, said: "Joining Launch It and setting up my business up in Launch It Kent has been advantageously ideal for me; to have my own space away from the distractions from my home life and be productively busy."
"To be a part of a business community hub with like-minded young entrepreneurs at different ends of the scale from pre-starts to start-ups to award-winning young business owners who are a few years in and smashing it is amazing! We are constantly learning from each other and are likely to be able to fill any gaps of any lacking knowledge. The support we are getting from Denise as our enterprise manager is also invaluable," he continued.
Sarah Ridley, Director of the Peter Harrison Foundation, said: “The Peter Harrison Foundation champions inspiring and entrepreneurial organisations and projects that contribute to our mission, creating a lasting impact and legacy.”
“We’re thrilled to witness the impact of Launch It and we can't wait to see the continued positive impact they’ll make to the most needy in their local community and beyond with our support."
